The minor (G) allele of SNP rs10495584 was associated with lower mean systolic and diastolic blood pressures in men (121.1 +/- 14.2 and 76.3 +/- 10.2 mm Hg vs. 127.4 +/- 15.2 and 80.1 +/- 10.5 mm Hg, P = 0.002 and 0.007, respectively), but not in women (P > 0.05), and remained significant after correction for numerous other factors. However, its effect may be caused by a nearby, tightly linked SNP, rs11524.

A;A

Almost all white people and a majority of non-white people have this normal version. But it isn't as good as the other rare mutant version which would have lowered blood pressure. Tested in Asians. They had an average blood pressure of 127.4/80.1 with this Allele.

A;G

Rare in white people. Tested in Asians. They had an average blood pressure of 121.1/76.3 mm Hg with this Allele. However, its effect may be caused by a nearby, tightly linked SNP, rs11524.

G;G

Rare in white people. Tested in Asians. They had an average blood pressure of 121.1/76.3 mm Hg with this Allele. However, its effect may be caused by a nearby, tightly linked SNP, rs11524.
