Notes

rs17185536 is a SNP located on chromosome 6 near the SIM1 gene that was significantly associated with a slight increase in risk of erectile dysfunction (ED) in men (odds ratio ~1.25, =p=6.8 × 10e−14). The study was based on 36,649 men from four race/ethnicity groups (non-Hispanic whites, Hispanic/Latinos, East Asians, and African Americans) and replication across 200,000+ UK BioBank samples. The risk associated with rs17185536 appeared independent of known risk factors for ED such as weight, smoking and diabetes, but note also that it explained a very small percentage (1.6%) of heritability of the condition.
