Notes

rs6330 is a SNP causing a change in an amino acid in the nerve growth factor ([NGF]) gene, and based on this, it is also known as 104C>T or Ala35Val. The more common (C) allele encodes the alanine (Ala). A study of 337 (age: 39.2 +/- 14.6 years) unrelated subjects of German descent found a significant (p=0.011) gender-dependent effect of this SNP on anxiety related personality traits. rs6330(C;C) females had higher levels of trait anxiety than (C;T) or (T;T) females, while the opposite effect was seen in males.
