rs2145418 is a SNP in the chromosome 1p12-13 region. In a case-control association study in a Spanish population, rs2145418 was associated with increased risk for thyroid cancer. rs2145418(G;T) heterozygotes had an odds ratio of 5.0 (CI: 2.85 - 8.83), while (G;G) homozygotes had an increased odds ratio of 9.2 (CI: 4.50 - 21.6), with reported significance of p < 0.0001.
C;C
but only reported in a single study, with no replication in 9 years. Population frequency for the genotype is also ~5%, far too high to be as negative as this sounds.
