rs7025486(A) was associated with up to a 20% increased risk of the various vascular diseases, with an odds ratio of 1.21 for abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) (p = 4.6x10-10), 1.18 for early onset myocardial infarction (MI) (p = 3.1x10-5), 1.14 for peripheral arterial disease PAD (p = 3.9x10-5), and 1.2 for pulmonary embolism (PE) (p = 00030), but it was not associated with intracranial aneurysm or ischemic stroke. An individual who carried two copies of this allele would have around a 44% increased risk of AAA. No association was seen between the A allele and common risk factors for arterial and venous disease—smoking, lipid levels, obesity, type 2 diabetes, and hypertension. theheart.org DeCode reports that the rs7025486(A;A) genotype is associated with 1.21x odds of peripheral arterial disease (PAD) and 1.32x odds of abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) .
