Notes
A case-control study of 471 Italian late-onset Alzheimer's disease patients aged 60 years or older, and 254 subjects with no neurodegenerative disorders serving as the control group, found that the rs2177369(G;G) genotype (in dbSNP orientation) a risk factor with an odds ratio of 1.56 (CI: 1.10-2.22, p = 0.01). Refreshingly, the authors call their results "far from definitive". A meta-analysis of 16,000 Alzheimer's cases finds that rs2177369 is associated (albeit not with a high odds ratio) with the disease in Caucasians.
