associated with type-1 diabetes In a separate study, Sardinians with either type-1 diabetes (1,037 patients) or multiple sclerosis (1,498 patients) plus matched controls were genotyped for rs725613. In this study, the rs725613(A) allele was positively associated not only with type-1 diabetes (odds ratio 1.15, p = 5.1 x 10e-3) but also with multiple sclerosis (odds ratio = 1.21, p = 6.7 x 10e-5). rs725613 was strongly associated with T1D in the Han Chinese population (P = 0.00007, odds ratio (OR) = 0.527, 95% confidence interval (CI) = 0.383-0.726) Follow-up analysis of genome-wide association data identifies novel loci for type 1 diabetes.
